Tennis For Awareness Is A Huge Success

The event was a tremendous success, raising $940 for the Good Samaritan Hospital Breast Health Center. Teams registered with a $40 entry fee, with all proceeds going directly to breast cancer research. Winners and finalists earned the opportunity to attend the end-of-season Section XI tennis dinner for free.

Megan T. Bryant was named Stony Brook's head softball coach in 2001. A three-time America East Coach of the Year (2009, 2012 & 2014), Bryant is the winningest manager in program history with 666 career victories at the helm of the Seawolves' program. She has 1010 total in 37 seasons of coaching. Stony Brook has totaled 30 wins or more 11 times under Bryant.

Acritelli is a longtime educator and coach, as well as being in the military for nine years. He was called away from his Hicksville teaching job when all of the military was called up after 9-11. He certainly feels the connection, even naming his daughter after one of the fallen on that dreadful day. Acritelli was quick to say how "important it is to acknowledge all of our veterans. Every veteran of today and tomorrow." He went on to say how vital it is that "this generation understands the sacrifices that the armed forces gave to protect our way of life."

Alleged MS-13 Gang Member Extradited to Suffolk County to Face Kidnapping And Assault Charges

Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced that Josue Zepeda Padilla, 28, of Huntington Station, was extradited and arraigned on an indictment charging for Robbery in the First Degree, Gang Assault in the First Degree, and other related charges, for his alleged role in the January 6, 2024 violent attack on a 15-year-old at the Pilgrim State Mental Facility in Brentwood that left the child unconscious
