There was never much doubt that William Floyd’s Savannah Pantry was going to turn heads this season. Already regarded as one of the top players in Suffolk County, Pantry has recently taken her game to another level, catching fire as the early portion of the season unfolds. Her dominant performances have helped lead the Colonials to an unbeaten start and have showcased just how complete her skill set has become.
Pantry’s scoring surge has been especially impressive. She recorded back-to-back 20-point outings, pouring in 24 points against Riverhead before following that effort with 22 points in a win over Smithtown West. Her ability to score in a variety of ways has made her nearly impossible to defend, whether attacking the basket, finishing through contact, or knocking down open looks when defenses collapse.
However, Pantry’s impact goes far beyond scoring. Her size, strength, and instincts make her one of the premier rebounders on Long Island. Earlier this month, she pulled down 13 and 14 rebounds in consecutive games, controlling the paint on both ends of the floor. She also grabbed 12 rebounds against Longwood in the third game of the season, setting the tone early for what has become a consistent trend.
Last season, Pantry earned All-Conference honors after leading William Floyd in both points and rebounds. She recorded 11 double-doubles, establishing herself as the centerpiece of the Colonials’ lineup and one of the most reliable performers in the league. That experience appears to be paying dividends this year, as she has returned even more confident and aggressive.
With Pantry heating up and playing at such a high level on both ends of the court, William Floyd’s outlook continues to grow brighter. If her current form is any indication, the Colonials appear poised for a special season, led by a player who is proving she belongs among Suffolk County’s elite.
