The Longwood Varsity Cheerleaders are officially headed to the National Championships after an outstanding performance last week at UCA’s Keystone Regional Competition in Reading, Pennsylvania. Competing at a high level for the first time this season, the Lions rose to the challenge in impressive fashion, qualifying for nationals and capturing first place at the event.

The victory secured Longwood a coveted bid to the National High School Cheerleading Championship, which will be held this February at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The team will compete in the Medium Varsity Division I category, facing some of the top cheer programs from across the country.

The Keystone Regional marked an important milestone for the Longwood program, as it tested the team against elite competition outside the local and state level. Despite the pressure, the cheerleaders delivered a clean, energetic routine that showcased their athleticism, synchronization, and team spirit, earning them championship honors and national qualification.

Longwood’s success is a testament to the dedication, preparation, and hard work put in by the athletes and their coaching staff throughout the season. Countless hours of practice, attention to detail, and commitment to improvement paid off when it mattered most on the competition mat.

Following the achievement, the Longwood social media page shared a celebratory message recognizing the team’s accomplishment. “We’re so proud of you and can’t wait to cheer you on at nationals. Let’s go, Lions!” the post read.

As the team now turns its focus toward nationals, excitement continues to build throughout the Longwood community. Representing their school on a national stage is a tremendous honor, and the Varsity Cheerleaders are poised to make the most of the opportunity when they take the mat in February. Their journey to nationals reflects resilience, confidence, and pride in the Longwood name.

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
