Patchogue-Medford High School freshman Jameson Remien has qualified for the New York State Swimming and Diving Championships, capping off an outstanding start to his high school career. Remien advanced to the state meet thanks to his impressive performance in the 100-meter breaststroke, where he posted an excellent time of 59.62 seconds to meet the qualifying standard.
After earning his spot at states, Remien continued to deliver top performances, including a strong showing this week at the Section XI Boys Independent Meet. At the event, Remien finished first overall in the 100 freestyle with a time of 51.47 seconds. He also earned a second-place finish in the 100 backstroke, touching the wall in 1:00.33. His consistency across multiple strokes has highlighted his versatility and competitiveness in the pool.
Entering the meet in which he qualified for states, Remien had already captured first place in his previous two competitions. In total, he recorded five first-place victories across those meets and has now finished first in 12 of his last 16 races. Those results reflect not only his talent, but also his work ethic and ability to perform under pressure against strong competition.
As a freshman, Remien’s accomplishments are particularly notable, as he is competing successfully against older and more experienced swimmers. His early success suggests a bright future for both himself and the Patchogue-Medford swimming program as he continues to develop.
The Patchogue-Medford School District recognized Remien’s achievement on social media, sharing a congratulatory message that read, “The district congratulates Jameson on this monumental achievement and wishes him the best of luck.” With the state championships ahead, Remien will look to continue his impressive season on New York’s biggest stage.
