Town of Brookhaven Hosts Christmas Tree Lighting
The Holtsville Ecology Site was home to the 2024 Town of Brookhaven Christmas Tree Lighting, where Santa ditched his sleigh and decided to make a grand appearance by helicopter to countdown the celebration.
Brookhaven Animal Shelter hosts Halloween dog costume parade with free adoptions
The Brookhaven Animal Shelter and Adoption Center is organizing its annual "Howl-o-ween Doggie Costume Parade" on Saturday, October 27, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Children attending the event are encouraged to wear costumes and participate in "Trick or Treating," with opportunities for photos alongside the "costumed canines."
Brookhaven Animal Shelter to host Oktoberfest event on September 28
On September 28, the Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter and Adoption Center will be featured during Oktoberfest at the Millhouse Inn, located at 284 Mill Road in Yaphank. Doors open at noon. Visitors can meet dogs available for adoption, obtain Matchmaker Forms, get volunteer information, and make donations to support the shelter's animals. Guests will enjoy food, drinks, music, and more.
Brookhaven offers free jitney and ferry service
Free jitney and ferry transportation will be available to Ho Hum Beach on certain dates in August and September. Advance registration is necessary.
Councilwoman Bonner visits new playground at Diamond in the Pines Park
Farmingville, NY – On August 20, Councilwoman Jane Bonner met with Coram Civic Association President Kareem Nugdalla and local residents James and Jessica Fanning, along with their children Jack and Penelope and cousin Alicia Cordner, at the new Diamond in the Pines Park playground. Located at 1921 Route 112 in Coram, the park features ball fields, benches, chairs, a gazebo, a multi-purpose field, a playground, restrooms, trails and more.

The town of Brookhaven is partnering with the Montauk Surfcasters Association and the Chamber of Commerce of the Moriches to host the annual Keith Romaine Memorial Snapper Derby on Sept. 8. Councilwoman Karen Dunne Kesnig and Supervisor Dan Panico announced it on Aug. 17.
