Brookhaven Town successfully held its annual Holiday Toy Drive last week, bringing residents, families, and local organizations together to support children and families during the holiday season. The all-day event was broadcast live from the Brookhaven Town Hall lobby in Farmingville in partnership with JVC Broadcasting’s radio stations.

The holiday drive collected new, unwrapped toys and gifts that will be distributed to families in need across the region, continuing Brookhaven’s long-standing tradition of community support and charitable outreach, according to Supervisor Dan Panico.

The live broadcast featured on-air personalities from several local radio stations, including 103.9 LI News Radio, 98.3 KJOY, 94.3 THE SHARK, La Fiesta 98.5/96.9, and Party 105.3. Throughout the day, hosts engaged listeners, shared stories from the community, and encouraged residents to stop by Town Hall to donate toys and take part in the effort.

Panico said the broadcast format made it easy for residents to participate, with a steady flow of donations arriving throughout the day. Anyone who dropped off a toy during the event helped make the holiday season brighter for children across Suffolk County.

The toy drive reflected months of planning by Town staff and volunteers, who coordinated closely with local nonprofits, schools, and churches to ensure donations will be distributed efficiently. Community leaders noted that previous toy drives have supported hundreds of families throughout the county and said this year’s turnout appeared strong.

Beyond collecting toys, organizers said the event also served as a reminder of the importance of community connection during the holidays. Residents, volunteers, and broadcasters alike emphasized that the drive brought people together around a shared goal of helping neighbors in need during a season that can be difficult for many families.

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
