Brookhaven Town Clerk Kevin J. LaValle was officially sworn in for a second term, reaffirming his commitment to modernizing services and expanding public access to town government.

The oath of office was administered by Judge Timothy P. Mazzei, a former Town Board member, during a ceremony attended by Supervisor Daniel Panico and council members Jonathan Kornreich, Jane Bonner, Neil Manzella, Michael Loguercio, Neil Foley, and Karen Dunne Kesnig.

LaValle was also joined by his family, including his parents, Richard and Judith LaValle, and his fiancée, Erin McTiernan. Judith LaValle and McTiernan held the family Bible during the ceremony, a treasured volume dating back to the 1800s that has been passed down through generations of the LaValle family.

In his remarks, LaValle thanked Town Board members for their continued support and praised the Town Clerk’s Office staff for their dedication and hard work on behalf of town residents. He also acknowledged the role of his family, saying their encouragement has been a constant source of strength.

During his first term, LaValle led several modernization initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and convenience for residents. These efforts included enabling online renewals for Parking Permits for Persons with Disabilities and launching online boat slip renewal applications. As the Town’s keeper of records, he emphasized digitization, overseeing the scanning and secure storage of hundreds of thousands of documents.

His term also saw the completion of the $4 million Regional Records Center, along with the transition of Town Board rezoning applications to a fully online platform and the addition of QR codes to land-use signs for easier public access to project information.

Looking ahead, LaValle outlined ambitious goals for his second term, including moving all Town Clerk forms online and expanding regional partnerships through the Records Center. “The goal is to modernize our township in the clerk’s office,” LaValle said. “By the end of this year, a majority, if not all, of our applications and certificates will be online so residents can submit them from the convenience of their home.”

The Town Clerk’s Office is located at Brookhaven Town Hall, One Independence Hill in Farmingville. For more information, office hours, and services, call 631-451-9101 or visit www.BrookhavenNY.gov.

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
