The Patriots delivered a strong overall performance and crowned multiple individual champions across several weight classes, showcasing both depth and high-end talent throughout the lineup.
Leading the way was Hunter Phillips, who not only claimed a championship in his weight class but also earned the tournament’s Most Pins award. Phillips, currently ranked second in Suffolk County at 101 pounds, continued to validate his status as one of the county’s top young wrestlers with another dominant showing. He was joined atop the podium by teammates Jaden Baron, Lorenzo Gamez, Logan Schaefer, and Adam Culloton, each of whom captured individual titles and played key roles in Ward Melville’s team success.
While Ward Melville celebrated its tournament victory, Connetquot also turned in an impressive performance. The Thunderbirds won the team competition based on total points and produced six individual champions. Zachary Carlson and Nicholas Theodoulou led the way for Connetquot, anchoring a balanced effort that highlighted the program’s strength across multiple weight classes.
Smithtown East’s Matthew McDermott earned one of the tournament’s top individual honors, being named the Most Outstanding Wrestler. McDermott secured the award after defeating William Floyd’s Jack Meyer in a highly competitive matchup that drew attention from spectators and coaches alike. His performance stood out for both technique and intensity, capping a strong showing for Smithtown East at the event.
