Gabriella Nicolaides continues to make a name for herself as one of Suffolk County’s top young golfers after an outstanding performance at the Section XI Suffolk County Girls Golf Championship this past week.
The Half Hollow Hills East High School standout finished fifth overall in Suffolk County, earning a coveted spot to represent Section XI at the upcoming NYSPHSAA Girls Golf Championship this June. Along with qualifying for the state championship, Nicolaides also earned All-League, All-Conference, and All-County honors, adding even more accolades to an already impressive season.
For Nicolaides, this accomplishment is especially meaningful because it marks her second trip to the state tournament in just two years. She previously qualified for the championship as a freshman in 2024, a rare achievement in one of the most competitive girls golf regions in New York State.
Her consistent success has quickly established her as one of the premier golfers in Suffolk County and a rising star for the Hills East program. Competing against many of the county’s top players, Nicolaides once again showed poise, skill, and maturity beyond her years throughout the championship event.
The achievement is also another proud moment for the Half Hollow Hills East athletic community, which has continued to see student-athletes excel both individually and as teams throughout the school year. Nicolaides’ ability to return to the state stage demonstrates not only her talent, but also her dedication and hard work year-round.
Qualifying twice for the state championship before the end of sophomore year is a remarkable accomplishment and speaks to the bright future ahead for the young golfer. As she prepares to compete against the best players from across New York State this June, the Hills East community will certainly be cheering her on.
