This past weekend Ward Melville Football watched two players be honored at the National Football Foundation’s Suffolk County Awards Brunch.
Brennan Kurtz and Hudson Philbrick both were on hand as they received their prestigious awards. Kurtz was selected as one of the Golden 11 recipients, which recognizes the top 11 football players in Suffolk County for their work on the field and in the classroom. He announced his commitment to continue his academic and athletic career when he chose to play Division 1 football at Bryant University. Kurtz led his offensive line, which was named the best offensive line in Suffolk County for Division 1 and was also captain of the team. Among his impressive accomplishments Kurtz was a three-year varsity starter, was named to the All-County second team twice and also played lacrosse on the varsity level.
Philbrick was honored as a player of the week during the season for his work on the field. He will be returning to Ward Melville as he is only a sophomore and was a three-sport athlete. Philbrick was named an All-State Honorable Mention this past season and the sky is the limit for this impressive youngster.
