Duke Favored to Cut Down the Nets in '27

The confetti has barely settled for the Michigan Wolverines, but in the world of sports betting, there’s no offseason.

Oddsmakers across the country have already released early lines for the 2027 NCAA Tournament, and to little surprise, the Duke Blue Devils sit atop the board as the early favorites. Duke opens at around +800, continuing a familiar trend of being heavily backed thanks to elite recruiting classes, strong coaching, and consistent public support in the betting market.

Fresh off their championship run, Michigan is close behind as the second choice, listed at approximately 12-1 odds to repeat. While repeating in college basketball is notoriously difficult, bettors clearly expect the Wolverines to remain among the nation’s elite programs.

Rounding out the top tier are this past season’s other top contenders, including the Florida Gators at 14-1 and the Arizona Wildcats at 15-1. Both programs showed their strength deep into March and are expected to reload with high-end talent.

One of the more interesting storylines comes from the UConn Huskies. Despite an impressive multi-year run that includes recent national titles, UConn finds itself further down the board at around 20-1. It’s a surprising placement for a program that has proven it can deliver in March, but it may reflect roster turnover or shifting expectations heading into the next cycle.

Other notable teams in the mix include the Houston Cougars, Michigan State Spartans, and Kansas Jayhawks, all sitting in the mid-range of the odds board. Traditional powers like Kentucky Wildcats and North Carolina Tar Heels also remain within striking distance.

While these odds will shift significantly as rosters change and the season approaches, they offer an early glimpse into how bookmakers—and bettors—view the landscape of college basketball.

For now, it’s Duke leading the way, Michigan chasing history, and a wide-open field ready to take shape over the next year.
