The Patchogue-Medford High School varsity softball team has officially wrapped up a tremendous regular season as Suffolk League I co-champions, marking a historic accomplishment for the program. The title is especially meaningful for the Raiders, as it is the school’s first league championship since 2006.
Patchogue-Medford finished the regular season tied for first place with an impressive 14-4 league record and a 16-4 overall mark. Throughout the spring, the Raiders proved themselves to be one of the most complete teams in Suffolk County, combining dominant pitching, strong defense, and explosive offense on a consistent basis.
One of the team’s most impressive stretches came during a seven-game winning streak in which the Raiders never allowed more than three runs in a game. Their pitching staff and defense were among the best in the county all season long, giving opponents very few scoring opportunities. In fact, Patchogue-Medford allowed more than five runs in a game only once all season, a remarkable achievement that highlights the discipline and consistency of the entire roster.
Offensively, the Raiders were just as dangerous. The lineup delivered big performances throughout the season, scoring 10 or more runs in nine different games. Their highest-scoring effort came earlier this month in a dominant road victory in which Patchogue-Medford erupted for an incredible 23 runs.
The balanced attack on both sides of the field helped establish the Raiders as one of Suffolk County’s toughest teams to face this season. From timely hitting to clutch pitching and dependable defense, Patchogue-Medford consistently found ways to win games and build momentum throughout the year.
The league championship is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and teamwork shown by the players and coaching staff from the very beginning of the season. After nearly two decades without a league title, the Raiders have now brought championship softball back to Patchogue-Medford in a big way.
The district congratulated the team on its outstanding accomplishment and memorable season as the Raiders now prepare to carry that momentum into postseason play.
