The Stony Brook Seawolves softball continue to build on a legacy of excellence, and this past week marked another historic milestone for longtime head coach Megan T. Bryant.

Bryant earned her 700th career victory at Stony Brook, adding yet another achievement to an already remarkable coaching résumé. Now in her 39th season overall, she has surpassed 1,000 career wins and firmly established herself as one of the most accomplished figures in collegiate softball.

Since taking over the Seawolves program in 2001, Bryant has transformed it into a consistent contender. She is the winningest coach in program history and has guided Stony Brook to 30 or more wins in 11 different seasons. Her leadership has also produced numerous individual accolades, including multiple All-Conference and All-Region selections.

One of her most notable milestones came on April 17, 2024, when she recorded the 1,000th win of her head coaching career during a doubleheader sweep of Fairleigh Dickinson Knights. Prior to her time at Stony Brook, Bryant built successful programs at Drake University and Stetson University, compiling hundreds of victories along the way.

In recent seasons, the Seawolves have continued to compete at a high level in the Colonial Athletic Association. The 2024 campaign featured 35 wins and a program-record 18-game winning streak, while 2025 saw multiple players earn All-CAA honors.

Bryant’s impact goes far beyond the win column. She led Stony Brook to its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2008 and returned again in 2013 after an unforgettable conference tournament run. Along the way, she has been named America East Coach of the Year three times and has consistently developed student-athletes both on and off the field.

From her early days at University of Bridgeport as a student-athlete to her decades-long coaching journey, Bryant’s dedication to the game has never wavered.

With more milestones likely still ahead, one thing is certain—her legacy at Stony Brook is already firmly cemented.
