The William Floyd Colonials Boys Lacrosse are off to a strong start this season, opening with two straight wins while showcasing an explosive offense and solid defensive play.

William Floyd began the year with a convincing 10-3 victory over Eastport-South Manor Sharks, setting the tone for what has quickly become an exciting start. Leading the way in the opener was Marc Pluchino, who delivered a standout performance with five goals and two assists for a seven-point effort. PJ Gilhauley followed with three goals and one assist, while Matt Filosa contributed three assists to help pace the offense.

Additional scoring came from Brett Pitkanen, who found the back of the net twice, and Ryan Murtha, who added two assists. Matt Taiani chipped in with an assist, while Matt Shaw anchored the defense with seven saves in net.

Just three days later, the Colonials hit the road and earned a 7-3 win over Rocky Point Eagles. Once again, strong goaltending and balanced scoring led the way. Shaw was outstanding between the pipes, recording 14 saves to keep Rocky Point at bay.

Offensively, Pluchino continued his hot start with three goals and one assist. Filosa, Murtha and Taiani each recorded identical stat lines with one goal and two assists apiece, highlighting the team’s unselfish play and depth. Gilhauley also contributed with a goal, rounding out another well-balanced effort.

Through two games, William Floyd has scored 17 goals, a clear sign that this offense has the potential to be one of the most dangerous in the league. More importantly, contributions have come from across the roster, making the Colonials a difficult team to defend.

With momentum on their side, William Floyd will look to build on this early success as the season continues. If the first two games are any indication, the Colonials are poised to make plenty of noise this spring.
