Former Walt Whitman standout Giana Paul has signed a three-year contract with the Kansas City Current, marking the next chapter of an outstanding soccer career. The forward, a University of Alabama product, will be with Kansas City through the 2028 season, with a team option for 2029, and is set to join the club ahead of its upcoming preseason training.

Paul concluded her collegiate career in Tuscaloosa as one of the most accomplished players in program history. She finished as Alabama’s all-time leader with 40 goals, 94 points, 279 shots, and 115 shots on target over four seasons from 2022 to 2025. At the end of the 2025 season, she ranked fifth nationally among active Division I players in career goals and eighth in career points. Paul started 69 of her 90 career matches and logged more than 6,000 minutes on the field.

As a senior, Paul led the Crimson Tide with 12 goals and 31 points, breaking a 20-year-old school record for career goals. She also paced the team with 12 goals and 25 points in 2024 and recorded eight goals and 17 points in 2023. Her eight goals as a freshman in 2022 tied for 10th nationally among first-year players. Paul totaled nine game-winning goals during her career, including a league-leading five in 2023.

Her accolades were numerous. Paul was named SEC Freshman of the Year in 2022, earned All-SEC First Team honors three straight seasons, and became the first five-time All-SEC honoree in school history. She was also a two-time United Soccer Coaches All-American.

A Huntington Station, New York native, Paul helped lead Alabama to three NCAA Tournament appearances, including the program’s first-ever College Cup berth in 2022.

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
