This past season was a banner year for Rocky Point swimmer Andraya Giagios, as she established herself as one of the top competitors in New York State. Giagios swims for the Sachem Swim Club and has recently made a verbal commitment to Stonehill College, where she will continue both her athletic and academic career at the Division I level.

The Sachem Swim Club praised her achievement, saying, “Years of hard work and dedication have led to this moment, and the SSC family couldn’t be more proud of you.” That dedication was evident throughout a remarkable senior season that featured consistent high-level performances against elite competition.

Giagios capped off her outstanding year by earning All-State honors in the 100-yard butterfly, a testament to her speed, technique, and competitive drive. At the Section XI Championships, she finished second in the 100-yard butterfly with an impressive time of 57.23 seconds. That performance earned her a spot at the New York State Girls Swimming Championships, where she competed against the best swimmers in the state and finished 12th overall in her signature event.

Her success reflects not only individual talent, but also years of commitment to training, discipline, and improvement. Competing year-round with the Sachem Swim Club, Giagios has developed into a polished swimmer capable of excelling on some of the biggest stages in the sport. Her progression has made her a standout at Rocky Point and a role model for younger athletes in the program.

Rocky Point High School recognized her accomplishments in a congratulatory post, stating, “An outstanding accomplishment for an exceptional athlete. Proud of you, Andraya.” As she prepares to take the next step in her swimming journey at Stonehill College, Giagios leaves behind a legacy of excellence and determination that will be remembered throughout the Rocky Point swimming community.

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
