Port Jefferson’s Sophomore Alexa Jacobs set a new record when she won the 100 meter. Jacobs ran to a time of 11.88 breaking The Eddie Games 27-year-old record.
Jacobs, who also plays soccer, has been on fire this year, and really throughout her entire career. As a freshman, the Earl L. Vandermeulen High Schooler clinched the 100 meter title at the Suffolk Class C championships in 12.42 seconds. Then she one upped herself by winning the Division II state title in just 12.36 seconds. Athletic Director Adam Sherrard said, “That is how Alexa has been running all year. The bigger the moment, the faster she runs."
