Panico's Bold Move Deserves Praise

The town council veteran outlined his plan to vastly improve the quality of life in communities such as his Mastic Beach hometown in a letter to Romaine shortly after he moved up to county executive. In what appears to be a coordinated strategy, Panico requested that the county Department of Social Services not send money to landlords for rentals that do not have town permits. These permits require inspections, and Panico went as far as offering town inspectors to assist the county in making sure rentals are up to code.

Police History Museum Dedicated to 42-Year Veteran

He turned the former Lawson Estate into Bayview Hospital, which he bricked over and doubled in size. For his dedication to his friends and neighbors, the doctor was revered by many and was honored as a Man of the Year.

Body Found at Burned Out Moriches House

A 911 caller reported the fire just before midnight on Wednesday and the Center Moriches Fire Department responded with assistance from the Brookhaven, East Moriches, Manorville, and Mastic departments. The body was found after the blaze was extinguished. The two-story home, which was part of a once-popular farm, was completely destroyed.

Pal-O-Mine Equestrian, a nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive therapeutic equine programs using horses to facilitate growth, learning, and healing for children and adults with disabilities, individuals on the autism spectrum, veterans, and others, announced that the Clark Gillies Foundation has donated $7,500 to support scholarships for students in financial need.
