East Moriches World War l Roster
Going through a box of old books l won at an auction years ago, l came across a notebook containing a treasure trove of information about the men from East Moriches who served during World War I. "Soldiers in the World War" was written across the top of a notepad containing the service records of 21 heroes who were part of the "Great War," which started in 1914. Many are familiar names with relatives still in the area and are immortalized on the Eagle monument that stands on Main Street. The South Shore Press presents them as a tribute to those who answered their country's call.

Caruso, who was a 2023 graduate from Mount Sinai, played for the Hurricanes last season and has now decided to come closer to home and play for the Huskies. The lefthander Features a long, lanky frame w/ some deception at release. FB topped out at 89 mph. Showed some feel for CB at 67-69 mph.
From Bellport To Paris
As a star for Bellport she had 2,251 total points, a record for the Bellport program, which includes the boys and girls teams. She was such a prolific scorer she once scored 58 points in a game against Kings Park and won Suffolk's player of the year for girls basketball. As a senior she averaged 35 points per game, 17 rebounds per game and scored 40 points or more five different times, she also did that five times as a junior.

The NFL season is here, well sort of. Last week we had our first NFL preseason game between the Chicago Bears and the Houston Texans. The Bears won the Hall of Fame Game 21-17 over the Texans. It seems pretty cut and dry doesn't it? But, for sports bettors and sports books it was a nightmare of a game.

Mangano Makes More History
Shoreham-Wading River wrestler Gavin Mangano added another historic achievement to his résumé by capturing his fourth Eastern States Classic championship. Widely regarded as the toughest in-season wrestling tournament in the East, the Eastern States Classic once again showcased Mangano’s dominance on the mat.
