Four indicted in Suffolk County prostitution case involving police officer

Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced the indictment of four individuals, including a Suffolk County police officer and an Islip High School teacher, for allegedly running multiple brothels in Suffolk County. The William Floyd High School girls' varsity tennis team has concluded a successful season, securing their place in the playoffs for the 22nd consecutive year. Under the guidance of head coach David Pia, the Colonials achieved a 10-2 record in League IV and a 14-2 overall standing. Their performance has earned them a No. 4 seed, granting them a first-round bye and setting up a second-round home playoff match on October 22 against either No. 13 Sachem or No. 20 Eastport-South Manor.

Shirley man sentenced for attempted murder outside ex-Congressman Zeldin's home

Noah Green, a 20-year-old resident of Shirley, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for his involvement in a gang-related shooting incident that took place in front of former U.S. Congressman Lee Zeldin's home in October 2022. The sentence includes five years of post-release supervision. Green pleaded guilty to charges including Attempted Murder in the Second Degree after shooting at three individuals and injuring two.
