The free summer concert series in Mastic Beach promises a variety of talent including the return of last year’s country hit, Southbound.

Presented by the Chamber of Commerce of the Mastics and Shirley, the concerts kick off at 7 p.m. with Lilly Pallili & Cosplay, aka Lisa Polizzi, on July 16, followed by Southbound on July 23, BonJourney on July 30 and Sitting Ducks Music Trio on Aug. 6. Bring a lawn chair to American Legion Post 1533, 110 Mastic Beach Road.

“It's a wonderful night for families to come out,” said Chamber President Kim Swicicki. “They bring their lawn chairs; they bring their own snacks and food and drinks. It’s a free night for community to come out to be together, to enjoy some family time, to be with their neighbors outdoors and beautiful weather.”

Rooted in diversity, the concerts include Lilly Pallili with modern rock, Southbound with country, BonJourney as a rock tribute band and Sitting Ducks with (a mix including) yacht rock, said Swicicki.

Funds for these concerts and other Chamber events, she said, have been made possible by a $12,000 omnibus grant distributed by Suffolk County Legislator James Mazzarella for cultural and arts programming.

This year marks a change in venue, from the previous library location, which Swicicki hopes will give the American Legion a boost with membership. “We love being able to partner with other local organizations within the community,” she said.

From the Chamber's perspective, Swicicki described the concerts as "a highlight of our year."

And, for her personally, she said, “I went even before I became president of the Chamber last year, and we looked forward to it, my whole family. So, it's just a really nice night out, and we're really excited about it.”
