The Half Hollow Hills East girls flag football team has accomplished something no Suffolk County team had ever done before.

This week, the Red Colts made Long Island history by becoming the first Suffolk County flag football team to capture a New York State championship. The historic achievement capped off a perfect season as Hills East defeated Shaker High School 26-12 in the state title game.

From the opening kickoff of the season, the Red Colts established themselves as one of the premier teams in New York. Game after game, they showcased a combination of talent, determination, and teamwork that made them a difficult matchup for every opponent they faced.

Their remarkable journey began with a Suffolk County championship, where they proved to be the best team in one of the state's most competitive regions. They then added a Long Island championship to their growing list of accomplishments, earning the opportunity to compete for the ultimate prize on the state's biggest stage.

When that opportunity arrived, the Red Colts rose to the occasion.

Facing a talented Shaker squad in the state championship game, Hills East delivered another outstanding performance, earning a convincing 26-12 victory and securing their place in New York sports history. The win completed an unbeaten season and cemented the team's legacy as one of the greatest flag football teams Suffolk County has ever produced.

The accomplishment is significant not only for Half Hollow Hills East but for all of Suffolk County. As the first county team to win a state title in the sport, the Red Colts have set a new standard and opened the door for future generations of athletes to dream even bigger.

Championship teams are remembered for years, but history-making teams are remembered forever. This year's Red Colts squad achieved both.

From Suffolk County champions to Long Island champions and now New York State champions, the Half Hollow Hills East girls flag football team completed a perfect season in spectacular fashion. Their undefeated run, historic accomplishments, and championship mindset have secured their place among the most memorable teams in Long Island high school sports history.

Congratulations to the players, coaches, and the entire Hills East community on an unforgettable season.
