The William Floyd Colonials girls varsity track and field team wrapped up an outstanding regular season with a 5-1 record in League I competition, continuing to establish themselves as one of Suffolk County’s top programs this spring.
The Colonials have been fueled all season by strong performances across multiple events, including standout work in the triple jump from senior Allana Morgan and junior Jazz Paul. Morgan currently ranks second in Suffolk County in the event, while Paul sits fourth overall, giving William Floyd two of the top triple jump athletes in the county heading into championship season.
The team also delivered an impressive showing at the recent Smithtown Invitational. One of the biggest highlights came in the 4x800-meter relay, where the team of junior Brianna Smith, sophomore Anise Cobb, sophomore Esther Delille, and seventh grader Sofia Garcia captured meet championship honors. The victory showcased the Colonials’ depth and talent across all grade levels, with younger athletes already making a major impact on the varsity stage.
Another memorable moment came from freshman Camille Obi, who set a new freshman school record in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 71.11 seconds. Obi’s performance added another exciting chapter to what has already been a successful season for the Colonials and highlighted the bright future of the program.
Throughout the spring, William Floyd has consistently demonstrated balance between experienced leadership and emerging young talent. That combination has helped the team remain competitive in nearly every event while building momentum heading into the postseason.
Now, the focus shifts toward championship competition. The Colonials will send a large group of talented athletes to the upcoming Frosh/Soph Championships on May 18, followed by the Suffolk County Championship Meet on May 26 and the State Qualifier Meet on June 4.
With strong performances throughout the regular season and several athletes ranked among the county’s best, William Floyd heads into the postseason with confidence and plenty of momentum.
