Running for Heros

For the 10th consecutive year, Team EVA returned to Brookhaven Town Hall as part of Eva’s remarkable journey—seven marathons in seven days, covering more than 184 miles across Long Island—to honor veterans and Gold Star families.

The annual visit has become a meaningful tradition in the community, drawing attention to the sacrifices made by service members and their loved ones. At each stop along her route, Eva pays tribute in a powerful and personal way. She places a single red rose at memorial sites, reads each fallen service member’s name aloud, and takes a moment to reflect—ensuring that every individual is recognized and remembered.

Her journey, both physically demanding and emotionally moving, has resonated deeply with residents across Long Island. What began as a heartfelt mission has grown into a widespread effort of remembrance and support. To date, Eva has raised nearly half a million dollars for veterans’ organizations while visiting hundreds of memorials throughout the region.

Town officials gathered to welcome Team EVA, expressing their appreciation for the group’s continued commitment to honoring those who served. Supervisor Dan Panico, along with members of the Town Board, praised Eva’s dedication and the impact her journey has had on the community.

“Eva’s mission is a powerful reminder of the courage and sacrifice of our service members,” said Panico. “Her dedication helps ensure that their stories are never forgotten.”

As Team EVA continues its journey across Long Island, the message remains clear: through remembrance, gratitude, and community support, the legacy of those who served lives on.
