The Section XI Tennis Coaches Association recently hosted the Coach Bob Davis Autism Tournament, bringing together student-athletes from across Long Island for a meaningful day of competition and community support.

The event, which honors the legacy of Coach Bob Davis, continues to highlight the power of athletics as a platform for awareness, inclusion, and compassion. Throughout the day, players competed with energy and sportsmanship while also embracing the tournament’s larger mission of supporting autism awareness.

More than just a series of matches, the tournament served as a reminder of how sports can unite communities and shine a light on important causes. Coaches, players, and spectators alike came together to support the effort, creating an atmosphere that was both competitive and uplifting.

Special recognition goes to Coach Sussin of Ward Melville High School and Coach Selaggio of Bayport-Blue Point High School, whose leadership and organization played a key role in the event’s success. Their dedication ensured a smooth and enjoyable experience for all involved, from the athletes on the court to the families in attendance.

Participants not only had the opportunity to showcase their skills but also to be part of something bigger than the game itself. The tournament emphasized respect, understanding, and inclusion, values that extend far beyond tennis.

Moments of unity were evident throughout the day, whether it was players encouraging one another between points or teams coming together in support of the cause. Those small but meaningful interactions helped define the spirit of the event.

The Coach Bob Davis Autism Tournament has become a valued tradition within the Section XI community, continuing to grow each year while staying true to its purpose. It stands as an example of how high school athletics can make a positive impact beyond wins and losses.

By the end of the day, it was clear that the event had once again succeeded in bringing people together, raising awareness, and honoring a legacy that continues to inspire.
