The William Floyd Colonials picked up a thrilling 11-10 victory over Sachem North Flaming Arrows this week in one of the most exciting games on the Suffolk County schedule this season.

The Colonials came out strong and built a 4-1 lead in the second quarter. Sachem North responded in impressive fashion, closing the half on a 4-0 scoring run to send William Floyd into halftime trailing 5-4.

William Floyd briefly regained the lead in the third quarter, but another strong push from Sachem North left the Colonials down three goals in the final seconds of the period. Despite facing their largest deficit of the night, head coach Nicole Alesi kept her team composed.

The momentum shifted when Riley Meyer scored on the final play of the third quarter to cut the deficit to 9-7. That late goal proved to be the spark William Floyd needed. The Colonials held Sachem North to just one goal in the fourth quarter and began their comeback.

With the deficit trimmed to one late in regulation, Samantha Seaman delivered in dramatic fashion. Seaman first scored the game-tying goal and then netted the game-winner with under a minute remaining to complete the comeback. The Colonial defense and goaltending stood tall in the closing seconds to secure the victory.

Seaman finished with a team-high four goals while adding four draw controls and three ground balls. Emma DiMaio added three goals and one assist, while Jayla Pimentel scored twice and recorded a draw control. Meyer contributed a goal along with four ground balls and four draw controls. Ava Tiedemann chipped in one goal, one assist, one ground ball, and one draw control.

The Colonials followed that emotional win with a dominant performance against Lindenhurst Bulldogs, scoring 20 goals to extend their winning streak to five straight games. William Floyd now sits at 5-2 overall and 5-1 in League I play.

Next up for the surging Colonials is a matchup with Commack Cougars this coming week.
