A standout student-athlete from Rocky Point High School is being recognized for excellence both in and out of the classroom. Senior Yuuki Donnelly has been named this week’s News 12 Scholar Athlete Award winner, sponsored by FourLeaf Federal Credit Union.
Donnelly’s achievement highlights a unique combination of talent, dedication and community involvement. A self-taught violinist and tennis player, he has found success across multiple disciplines, balancing academics, athletics and the arts at a high level.
In the classroom, Donnelly has built a reputation for his commitment to excellence, while also using his skills to give back. He volunteers his time teaching orchestra to middle school students, helping to inspire younger musicians and share his passion for music. In addition, he founded “Harmony for Change,” an organization dedicated to providing free music lessons to children in need, further demonstrating his leadership and generosity.
On the court, Donnelly has made a significant impact as a member of the Rocky Point tennis team. Serving as team captain, he has led by example and earned Most Valuable Player honors, solidifying his role as one of the program’s top performers.
The News 12 Scholar Athlete Award recognizes students who excel academically while also making meaningful contributions through athletics and community service. Donnelly embodies all of those qualities, standing out as a well-rounded leader among his peers.
His recognition is not only a reflection of his individual accomplishments but also a testament to the supportive environment at Rocky Point High School. As he prepares for the next chapter, Donnelly leaves behind a legacy of hard work, leadership and a commitment to making a difference both on and off the court.
