The William Floyd School District’s Music Department continued one of its most cherished traditions with the 43rd Annual Music Faculty Scholarship Concert, held before a packed audience at the William Floyd High School auditorium.

The lively evening not only entertained the community but also raised more than $7,000 in scholarships for graduating seniors planning to pursue music education in college.

The annual event features the district’s music teachers and staff stepping into the spotlight, volunteering countless hours to rehearse and perform for students, families and community members. This year’s concert proved to be one of the most successful in the event’s long history.

“This event has always been a popular tradition for our school community,” said Dr. Amy Sckipp, coordinator of music for the William Floyd School District.

“Our music faculty volunteers countless hours of preparation to perform for our students and their families. Every year, they strive to put on an even more amazing show. You wonder how they can top the last year and then they do. Floyd Music is one of a kind.”

Music teacher Ryan Feldscher served as emcee for the evening, guiding the audience through a diverse program that featured a wide range of musical styles and creative faculty collaborations.

Performances included popular hits such as Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams,” Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things,” Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA,” and Avril Lavigne’s “Sk8er Boi.” Faculty ensembles also performed selections from film and theater, including “Pure Imagination” from Willy Wonka, “Married Life” from Up, and “For Good” from Wicked.

Various faculty groups took the stage throughout the night, including the Krusty Clarinet Crew, Floyd Folk Folks, Hall Pass Heroes, and the String Faculty Ensemble. The concert concluded with a high-energy finale performance of Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train” by the full music faculty.

Now in its 43rd year, the Music Faculty Scholarship Concert continues to celebrate the talent and dedication of William Floyd’s music educators while supporting future musicians from the district.
