William Floyd High School names Class of 2026 valedictorian and salutatorian

Hannah Schultzer and Jordan Hua have been named the valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, for the William Floyd High School Class of 2026, according to a June 3 announcement from the William Floyd School District.

Schultzer achieved a weighted grade point average of 102.9 and will attend the University of Chicago in the fall to study psychology. In addition to her academic accomplishments, Schultzer served as school-level president of Future Business Leaders of America, winning first place in "Business Communications" and "Insurance and Risk Management." She also participated in Youth & Government, won the Fosdick-San Antonio Scholarship as a junior, served on the executive board for Debate Club, contributed to Set Design for plays and musicals, was a member of the Foreign Language Honor Society, was one of two National Merit Scholar Commended Students this year, and served on the New York State Teen Tech Council. Schultzer attended William Floyd schools from kindergarten through twelfth grade.

Jordan Hua earned a weighted grade point average of 102.4 and will attend the University of Pennsylvania to study biology. Hua participated as a student-athlete with varsity track and field—earning All-League honors—and ran varsity cross country. He has been part of varsity teams since eighth grade. Hua is vice president and co-founder of his school's National English Honor Society chapter; he also took part in Stony Brook University's Health Occupations Partnership for Excellence program, mentoring students about healthcare careers. Additionally, he tutors through his high school's club while working at Splish Splash as a lifeguard. Like Schultzer, Hua attended William Floyd schools K-12.

The commencement ceremony for William Floyd High School's Class of 2026 is scheduled for Saturday, June 27 at 9:30 am, where both students are expected to address their peers.

The William Floyd School District serves more than 9,400 students across ten schools offering education from kindergarten through twelfth grade; it has received recognition for its music program among top communities nationwide as well as Department of the Year accolades by state business educators, according to the official website. The district fosters collaboration among students, parents, educators, staff and community members to support intellectual development along with emotional growth in an inclusive environment.
