Sachem North High School senior Jack Cusumano set a new school record for career wrestling wins during the Section XI Wrestling Championships at Stony Brook University. Cusumano achieved his 137th victory in the opening round, breaking the previous record of 135 wins held by Chris Iorio for two decades. He added another win on Saturday, bringing his total to 137.
Cusumano has been a key member of the Sachem North wrestling team, contributing significantly in league and county tournaments over his varsity career. His achievement was celebrated by teammates and fans at the event.
The senior wrestler will have at least one more opportunity to increase his record as he is scheduled to compete again in the county tournament on Sunday.
