Sachem’s own Vanessa Puerta has been called up to the Colombian U-17 Women’s National Team for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025, marking a major milestone in her young soccer career. Puerta has been training with the national team in Bogotá, Colombia, as part of the final preparation before traveling to Morocco to compete on the world stage against the top youth programs from around the globe.

Puerta’s journey in the sport began at just eight years old, when she joined the Sachem soccer program. Over the years, she steadily developed into one of the area’s most talented and dedicated players. Her leadership qualities were evident early on, and she eventually earned the role of team captain, setting an example both on and off the field. Coaches have consistently praised her work ethic, technical skill, and competitive drive.

Earning a spot on a national team roster is a rare achievement, and representing Colombia at a FIFA World Cup level is an extraordinary honor.
