Marcus Wertheim | Brown University

Former Smithtown lacrosse standout Marcus Wertheim is dominating on the world stage. The Smithtown alumnus, who currently attends Brown University, led all players at the Super Sixes tournament, delivering an elite performance against international competition. Wertheim finished the event with 25 goals and 30 total points, showcasing his explosive scoring ability and high-level skill.

He capped off the tournament with a five-goal performance in the Bronze Medal game, nearly lifting Australia to victory in a thrilling one-goal loss to the Haudenosaunee Nationals. His standout play throughout the event earned him recognition as one of 29 players named to the Australia Lacrosse Training Squad for Olympic Sixes, placing him firmly in contention to represent his country on the sport’s biggest stage.

At the collegiate level, Wertheim continues to excel for Brown University, where he serves as a team captain. As a junior midfielder, he played in 12 games and earned 11 starts, leading the Bears in scoring with 29 points on 19 goals. His leadership and production have made him one of the program’s most reliable offensive weapons.

Before his collegiate and international success, Wertheim starred locally on Long Island. He played lacrosse at Smithtown High School East and competed year-round with the Team 91 Smash club program. As a high school senior, he earned All-Long Island First Team honors and was a two-time honorable mention All-American. Wertheim also captained Smithtown East during both his junior and senior seasons, setting the tone as both a leader and a playmaker.

Over his final two high school seasons, Wertheim compiled 77 goals and 131 total points, cementing his legacy as one of the top players in program history. From Smithtown to Brown to the international stage, Wertheim’s rise continues, and his future in the sport looks brighter than ever.

Peralta has been a standout for years, and slotting him in as a high-value fantasy arm is easy. The question is just how high he should go.
