Smithtown High School East will now be able to show off their athletes like never before.

The athletes will be seen under a different light now that the school has installed new lights on the athletic field. The new lights are up and operating and look great as a new addition to the field complex and school.

The new lighting will allow fall teams to practice and host evening home games for the first time. Smithtown Central School District Director of Athletics, Jason Lambert, said he is currently in discussions with Section XI, other school districts and officials with hopes of scheduling night games for the school’s fall teams schedules.

The lighting addition is part of the Capital Reserve Proposition voters approved in 2024. Proposition 2 to add lights to the field at Smithtown East High School passed by an overwhelming margin of 4,363 for the lights, to just 1,835 against.

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
