William Floyd girls’ basketball wins summer league title; JV finishes as runner-up

The William Floyd High School girls’ varsity basketball team has claimed the Town of Brookhaven Summer League Championship, following a strong playoff performance. The Colonials secured the title after defeating Patchogue-Medford in the quarterfinals and Sachem East in the semifinals, culminating with a victory over Ward Melville High School—a AAA Elite 8 team—in the finals. The varsity squad concluded their summer season with an 11-1 record.

The varsity roster featured Jana Aly, Helen Lin, Tee Tee Rountree, London Barnes, Chloe Campbell, Savannah Pantry, Jayla Thomas, Milania Farrow, Olivia Lewis, Taleah Coppola, JJ Stewart and Gabby Bell-Eleazer. Coaches Rich Sinclair and Nick Thomas led the team.

The junior varsity girls’ basketball team also had a notable run in their division. They advanced to the finals by defeating Ward Melville in the opening round and Sachem East in the semifinals before falling to Centereach in the championship game. The JV roster included Diondra Hooten, Olivia Lewis, Rachel Hall, Khloe DiMaio, Riley Meyer, Ariana Sileo, Aicha Diallo, Ke’nyah Carter, Aliah Clark, April Handa, Naomi Carter, Tarahji Eleazer, Ciara Hughes-Jackson and Bailey Meyer. Carla Clark and Nick Beecher coached the junior varsity team.
