The faculty at Nathaniel Woodhull Elementary School marked the end of the 2024-25 academic year with a unique event by organizing their inaugural Faculty Field Day. On the final school day, teachers and staff participated in various activities while wearing large inflatable costumes, entertaining students who watched from the sidelines.
Principal Dr. Heather Murillo, assistant principal Mrs. Erica Peralta, and 34 other teachers and staff members took part in this new tradition. The faculty formed teams to compete for bragging rights and the first Nathaniel Woodhull Faculty Field Day trophy. Ultimately, a team comprising fourth- and fifth-grade teachers emerged victorious as champions.
The day concluded with a parade where students interacted with faculty participants who had provided an entertaining show. “The event was created in collaboration with the Student Council and their advisor, Mrs. Catania, as well as Woodhull’s physical education teacher, Mr. Campbell,” stated Dr. Murillo. She added that it aimed to celebrate the school year's end while fostering community spirit through shared experiences outside regular classes.
Given its success filled with laughter and teamwork, the Faculty Field Day is poised to become a cherished tradition at Nathaniel Woodhull Elementary School.
