Christian Cox Keeps Hitting

Shoreham Wading River's Christian Cox set the school's batting average record this season. Cox finished with a remarkable .639 average during the regular season. The 5'8" 174 pound senior got to the record by getting 39 hits and finished the season with a flurry. Cox ended the year going 15 for 16 with seven extra base hits in his last 4 games. Over those last 4 games he also drove in RBI and had 7 runs scored.

Cox plays catcher and third base, but he is the starting shortstop on most days. Scouts have said he can throw upwards of 80 mph across the diamond and that should allow him to stay on that side of the infield. He led Shoreham Wading River to a 16-4 overall record and they went 15-3 in league play. Cox has decided to continue his career at Framingham State University in Massachusetts.

Is There a New Ace in Town?

The New York Mets have a new ace, and fantasy owners have been accustomed to viewing Freddy Peralta as a near-ace for some time. The move to a more pitcher-friendly park should help, but do not overreach, because the reality is that the lineup around him is roughly the same and the bullpen is likely worse at protecting his leads. Peralta has been a standout for years, and slotting him in as a high-value fantasy arm is easy. The question is just how high he should go.
