St. Joseph's College has won the Skyline Conference Championship. After winning the regular season title for the third year in a row St. Joe's finished off their outstanding season by winning the championship.
The Golden Eagles proved they were by far the best team in the conference all season long and now have the championship to show it. The top-seeded Eagles needed to win both games against Farmingdale State College on the final day to capture the title. After dropping game 1 by a score of 6-1 the Eagles rebounded and took both games. They won the first game by breaking out the bats and the offense carried them to a 12-5 victory. The drama was only beginning though for the Eagles as they won a nail biter 9-8 to win game 2 and hoist the championship.
Senior second baseman John Lynch was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. Lynch was unconscious at the plate batting . 471. He had three doubles, two home runs, 8 runs scored and drove in 6.
Lynch was named to the second team All Conference this season and he was not alone. The Golden Eagles had four first team All Conference players with shortstop MIke DiFilippo, outfielder Anselmo Joya, pitchers Peter Manger and Dante Morabito all being selected. Along with Lynch, Jordan Ramlogan and Jack Kelly made the second team and head coach Tom Caputo won Coach of the Year honors.
