Both the Sayville girls lacrosse team and the Ward Melville girls lacrosse teams can now call themselves champions after winning their division championships.

The Sayville girls dominated all year long and their 18-0 perfect season was culminated with a 7-6 win over the second seeded Bayport-Blue Point. Bayport-Blue Point tried to mount a furious comeback with 4 goals in the 4th quarter but Sayville's defense was able to hold on and earn the title, and a perfect season.

Olivia Desimone and Dylan McNamara led the team with two goals apiece, while Sophia Buffardi, Sofia Cangelosi, and Jenna Messina all chipped in one goal each.

The #1 seed Ward Melville also won their championship game against 3rd ranked Northport by a score of 8-4. This one was never really in doubt as they led for nearly a half hour of game time to claim the title. Leading the charge for Ward Melville was Grace Mulham with two goals and an assist. Aliya Leonard came up big late in the game with two late goals to seal the victory, while Mia Pirozzi and Kate Spinks each had a goal and an assist.

This is Ward Melville's first county title since 2007. The Patriots will now face off in the Long Island championship this Saturday at Longwood High School.
