Flood and Mideulla Lead Easport-South Manor

The Eastport-South Manor school district has won another championship.

The varsity boys track team won the 2024 Suffolk County Spring Track championship this week. The athletes successfully beat the competition at Kings Park High School.

The boys were led by a first place finish from Justin Albanese who had a time of 1:59:06 in the 800 meter finals. He wasn't the only name from Eastport-South Manor who excelled in the 800 meter as Cooper Nedvin finished 3rd and Christian Capolino ended the race in 5th place.

There were two clear standouts in many categories that propelled them to the title. Jaden Flood finished 3rd in the Pentathlon 1500 meter race and Aidan Mideulla ended up in 6th place. Flood also had the fastest time in the Pentathlon finals with Mideulla finishing 4th overall. The duo also ended up in 7th and 8th place in the Shot Put finals and 2nd and 3rd in the Long Jump Finals. They also took home first and fifth in the High Jump.

In other races in the boys 1600 meter race Sean O'Neill, Justin Albanese, and Paul Zorn finished in 3rd, 4th and 5th place with Cooper Nedvin coming in 10th. While in the Triple Jump Aidan Murfitt and Garrett Bollinger placed 5th and 7th.

Record Setting Maggie McCormick Competes at Nationals

The Bay Shore Schools Board of Education recently recognized and congratulated girls varsity cross country standout Maggie McCormick for her outstanding achievements on the track and on the national stage. McCormick, who has committed to the University of Florida, was honored for her performance at the Nike Cross Country Nationals, one of the most prestigious high school running events in the country.

The Long Island Ducks have announced the team’s first signing of 2026, welcoming Major League veteran outfielder Jacob Robson. Robson will begin his first season with the Ducks, his second in the Atlantic League, and his 10th season in professional baseball.
