Ward Melville's own J.J. Lapp scored his first touchdown as a member of the Los Angeles Rams in their preseason game last week.

Lapp caught a deep 47-yard pass from backup QB Stetson Bennett. He finished the game with two catches for 50 yards and that long, highlight reel touchdown.

Lapp signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent after his time with SUNY Cortland this off season. While at Cortland he led the team to its first Division III national football championship. Lapp also led the team with 41 receptions, 907 yards and six touchdowns.

It was just more of the same for Laap who at Ward Melville, was the runner-up for the Hansen Award, which is awarded annually to the best football player in Suffolk County.

Lapp is looking to make a Rams roster that is known for producing under the radar wide receivers. Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua are two of the best stories of underrated WR play under Sean McVay.
