Longwood High School senior Alex Deal has won the Suffolk Officials Invitational Varsity Race.

The 5'11" 145 pounder finished with a time of 17:25. Deal primarily runs the 1600 meter and last season led his team to a conference championship run. He also finished in 3rd place last season in the sectionals.

Deal has described himself as a hard worker and stresses that he builds friendships and his great mentality is a driving force.

Colonials Host Coaches vs. Cancer/Score for a Cure

The William Floyd girls’ varsity basketball team, led by head coach Rich Sinclair, recently hosted a “Coaches vs. Cancer/Score for a Cure” game against Riverhead to raise money in the fight against cancer. As part of the initiative, the Colonials also participated in a shoot-a-thon, and through concessions and T-shirt sales, they raised nearly $650 for the American Cancer Society.
