Staten Island Resident Alleges UPS Discriminates Against Non-White Apartment Complexes

A class action lawsuit was filed on October 8, 2024, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, in which Gordon Flowers accuses United Parcel Service, Inc. (UPS) of racial discrimination. The complaint alleges that UPS has systematically refused to deliver packages directly to two predominantly non-White apartment complexes on Staten Island—Fox Hill Apartments and Park Hill Apartments—requiring residents to travel to retrieve their deliveries.

Students Go Bionic

Prodell sixth graders had the opportunity to work with The Bionic Project on the theme "we are all connected; community is essential." The full day program began with an assembly on topics such as inclusive behavior and language, accessible school and stadium design, media narratives around disabilities and assistive technology. The day continued with adaptive sports clinics led by the four instructors, two of whom are elite athletes with physical disabilities. By the end of the day, students were better able to understand the challenges that students with physical disabilities face, particularly when it comes to playing a sport or participating in physical activities that may seem easy or come naturally to others. However, they were also able to see the power of resilience and hard work.
