The William Floyd boys' varsity wrestling team, under the guidance of head coach Tony Mecca, recently secured victory at the 39th Annual Kujan Brothers’ Memorial Tournament. The team achieved notable success with two overall champions and four second-place finishes, with a total of 15 athletes placing in the top six.
The team's overall champions were Josiah Lors and Antonio Martin. Finalists included David Barrera, Brandon Caceres, Caleb Holmes, and Jack Meyer. Their efforts led to William Floyd's second Kujan Tournament title in three years, outperforming top-ranked teams such as Bellport, Smithtown East, and Plainedge.
Currently holding an 8-2 record and ranked among Suffolk County's top teams, the Colonials aim to continue their successful season with five dual meets remaining along with upcoming league and county championships.
The tournament honors former William Floyd wrestlers Kevin and Steve Kujan who died in a motorcycle accident in 1984. It has been a tradition for 39 years, bringing together the wrestling community to commemorate their memory.
