William Floyd High School celebrated its 67th Commencement Ceremony on June 27, honoring approximately 800 graduates as they received their diplomas and joined the William Floyd alumni community. The event took place in front of parents, family members, and friends, with a livestream available for those unable to attend.
The ceremony began with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Student Government President Matthew Danielsen and a Presentation of Colors by the William Floyd High School NJROTC under Senior Chief Andrew DiDonato. Graduating seniors from the school chorus performed "The Star-Spangled Banner" under the direction of Donia Rivera. Valedictorian Hannah Schultzer and salutatorian Jordan Hua addressed their peers with remarks, while additional speeches were delivered by Board of Education President April Coppola, Superintendent Kevin M. Coster, Principal Philip Scotto, and Floyd Academy Principal John DeBenedetto.
During her address, Coppola recognized members of the graduating class who have enlisted in the United States Armed Forces. She said, "We thank them for their commitment and wish them the very best in their military careers." The Mastic Fire Department and Mastic Beach Fire Department displayed a large American flag behind the stage as part of the ceremony’s backdrop.
Graduates were encouraged to download free photos from several online albums documenting the event. A replay of the livestream and an aerial video clip were also made available to families.
