The Sayville School District is celebrating a prestigious honor earned by its athletic director, Dr. Ryan Cox, who has been recognized by the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) as a Certified Master Athletic Administrator (CMAA).

The CMAA designation is one of the highest professional achievements available in the field of interscholastic athletic administration. Dr. Cox now joins an elite group of athletic administrators from across the world who have earned the distinction through a rigorous certification process recognizing exceptional leadership, professional contributions, experience and ongoing professional development.

“I am honored to receive this distinction from the NIAAA,” Dr. Cox said. “This achievement reflects the support of the Sayville community, our dedicated coaches, staff, student-athletes and families. It is a privilege to serve a district that places such a high value on educational athletics and the positive impact they have on students’ lives.”

To earn the Certified Master Athletic Administrator designation, candidates must successfully complete an extensive evaluation of their educational background, professional experience, leadership training and contributions to the profession. The certification process culminates with a comprehensive practical project and presentation that demonstrates advanced knowledge and expertise in athletic administration.

Since joining the Sayville School District, Dr. Cox has expanded athletic opportunities for students while fostering a culture of integrity, inclusion and achievement throughout the district's athletic programs. His leadership has helped support the continued success of Sayville's student-athletes both on and off the field.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Marc Ferris praised Dr. Cox for his commitment to excellence and the positive impact he has made throughout the district.

“This recognition reflects Dr. Cox’s unwavering commitment to excellence and his dedication to providing outstanding opportunities for our student-athletes,” Ferris said. “His leadership has helped strengthen Sayville’s athletic programs while ensuring that sportsmanship, character development and student success remain at the forefront of everything we do. We are incredibly proud of this well-deserved accomplishment.”

The honor is a testament to Dr. Cox's dedication to educational athletics and the lasting impact he continues to have on the Sayville community.
