High School East and West CTE School of Business students recently stepped outside the classroom for a one-of-a-kind learning experience, visiting both Citi Field and Yankee Stadium as part of an immersive sports management program.
Students enrolled in Mr. Hennings’ and Mr. Costello’s College Sports Management courses took part in the Second Annual “Subway Series Experience,” a hands-on trip designed to give them real-world insight into the business side of professional sports.
The day began in Flushing, where students received an in-depth, behind-the-scenes tour of Citi Field, home of the New York Mets. During the visit, they explored areas not typically open to the public and learned about the inner workings of game-day operations. Students were also provided with marketing materials, along with information about internship and job opportunities within the Mets organization. To top it off, each student received a voucher for a future Mets game.
From there, the group boarded a bus and followed the route of the 7 and 4 subway lines, traveling north to the Bronx. At Yankee Stadium, students had the unique opportunity to participate in a networking session and Q&A with top executives from the New York Yankees inside the DigiCore Conference Center. The discussion gave students valuable insight into careers in sports management, marketing, and operations.
The experience didn’t end there. Students were then treated to field-level seats for that evening’s game, where the Yankees secured a win over the Texas Rangers. In addition to the unforgettable view, students received concession vouchers and tickets for a future Yankees game.
The trip provided a memorable and educational experience, offering students a closer look at potential career paths in the sports industry while creating lasting memories along the way.
