Long Island's Own Heads to the Mets

The Long Island Ducks shared some exciting news this week, especially for local baseball fans, as they announced that infielder Nick Roselli has had his contract purchased by the New York Mets organization. The Long Island native will report to the club’s High-A affiliate in Brooklyn, marking another step forward in his professional career.

“Nick earned a roster spot out of spring training and contributed greatly over the first three weeks of the season,” said Ducks manager Lew Ford. “We wish him the best of luck as he returns to the Mets organization.”

Roselli made the most of his time with the Ducks, appearing in 14 games and starting 12 of them. He posted a .250 batting average while adding two home runs, eight RBIs, and six runs scored. His production also included two doubles, seven walks, a .353 on-base percentage, and a .785 OPS. The 23-year-old showed consistency at the plate, recording four multi-hit games and three multi-RBI performances during his brief but impactful stint.

A native of Levittown, Roselli is no stranger to the Mets organization. He spent the previous two seasons there, compiling a .211 batting average with nine home runs and 56 RBIs across 106 games. During that time, he also tallied 49 runs, 76 hits, 17 doubles, two triples, 43 walks, and 10 stolen bases. A product of Division Avenue High School and Binghamton University, Roselli was originally selected by the Mets in the 11th round of the 2024 MLB Draft.

With this move, Roselli becomes the fourth member of the 2026 Ducks roster to have his contract purchased by a Major League organization or a foreign professional league. He joins a growing list that includes Caleb Roberts, Henry Kusiak, and Juan Yepez, highlighting the Ducks’ continued role as a pipeline for advancing talent.

The organization has built a strong reputation for player development and opportunity. After leading the Atlantic League with 10 player contract purchases in 2024, the Ducks have continued to demonstrate their ability to help players take the next step. For Roselli, that next chapter now begins back in affiliated baseball, and close to home.
