It was Senior Night this week for the William Floyd baseball team, and the Colonials made it a celebration to remember, earning an impressive win in front of family, friends, and fans.
Led by head coach Keith Kobasiuk, the Colonials honored their 10 senior players before the game in a heartfelt ceremony that recognized their dedication and contributions to the program. Surrounded by loved ones, coaches, and teammates, the seniors were celebrated for the impact they’ve made both on and off the field.
Once the game began, William Floyd carried that energy onto the diamond, powering their way to a commanding 13-3 victory over Central Islip. The win not only capped off a special night but also held added significance for the team’s season.
With the victory, the Colonials improved their record to 10-6 and officially clinched a spot in the Section XI Class AAA playoff bracket. It marks the third consecutive year that William Floyd has qualified for postseason play, a testament to the program’s consistency and growth.
Offensively, the Colonials were led by Gabriel Beta, who delivered a standout performance with a two-run home run and three RBIs. Cayden Doll also contributed at the plate, driving in two runs to help fuel the team’s scoring effort. On the mound, CJ Burkhardt turned in a strong outing, earning the win and helping keep Central Islip in check.
Following the game, the focus returned to the seniors, whose leadership has played a key role throughout the season. Congratulations to Gabe Beta, CJ Burkhardt, Jacob Cooke, Gavin Coyle, Cayden Doll, Spencer Link, Andrew Marino, Frankie Mattera, Jackson Seifert, and Andrew Winter.
