Gun-Toting Repeat Offender Busted in Gas Station Heist

Marion Maupin mugshot | Suffolk County DA

A career criminal who once again picked up a gun is now staring down a potential life sentence after a brazen, early-morning gas station holdup in Suffolk County.

Marion Maupin, 33, of Ridge, was convicted by a jury of first-degree robbery and multiple related charges for a violent stickup at a Yaphank Shell station that quickly spiraled into a high-speed police chase, prosecutors said.

Authorities say Maupin, already twice convicted on felony weapons charges, didn’t hesitate when he stormed into the station on Jan. 24, 2025, alongside accomplice Raiquan Davis, 28, of Coram. Both masked and wearing hoodies, the pair moved in with purpose.

While Davis stood guard by the door, acting as lookout, Maupin pointed a loaded gun directly at the clerk’s head and demanded cash. The terrified worker complied as Maupin emptied the register before the duo bolted in a white Cadillac.

“This defendant pointed a loaded gun at a gas station clerk’s head during the commission of this crime, and he did it with two prior felony convictions already on his record,” District Attorney Raymond Tierney said.

But their getaway didn’t last long.

Fifth Precinct officers spotted the vehicle in Bellport and attempted a stop — but Maupin and Davis hit the gas, kicking off a wild, 15-minute chase that saw speeds top 100 mph, according to prosecutors.

In a desperate bid to ditch evidence, cops say the pair bailed out of the still-moving car, tossing the firearm into a nearby yard before the Cadillac slammed into a telephone pole outside a home daycare.

They didn’t get far, and both were arrested shortly after nearby.
