The William Floyd girls’ varsity lacrosse team gave its seniors a night to remember, delivering a dominant 15-0 victory over Riverhead on Senior Night.
Led by head coach Nicole Alesi, the Colonials continued their outstanding season with the win, which marked their seventh consecutive victory. William Floyd now sits at 7-2 overall and remains a perfect 7-0 in Division I play, strengthening its position as one of the top teams in the league.
The Colonials were in control from the opening whistle, using balanced scoring and strong defense to overwhelm Riverhead. Emma DiMaio led the way with a game-high six points, scoring three goals while adding three assists in another standout performance.
Rylie Wiegand also had a big night offensively, finishing with four points, including three goals. Her scoring touch helped keep the pressure on throughout the contest as William Floyd continued to build its lead.
Additional contributions came from Ava Tiedemann, Samantha Seaman, and Natalie Samlihan, who each recorded two points. The Colonials once again showed their depth, with multiple players making an impact on the scoresheet.
On the defensive end, goaltender Julia Hipperling was sharp in net, making four saves to secure the shutout victory. The William Floyd defense has been a key part of the team’s success all season, and it was on full display once again.
Before the game, the Colonials honored their eight senior players in a special ceremony alongside family members, friends, coaches, and teammates. Senior Night provided a chance to celebrate the dedication and leadership these student-athletes have brought to the program.
The William Floyd Athletics social media page shared its congratulations, recognizing Alexis Caldwell, Emma DiMaio, Julia Hipperling, Jayla Pimentel, Natalie Samlihan, Samantha Seaman, Ava Tiedemann, and Gianna Trotta.
With seven straight wins and an unbeaten division record, the Colonials are building strong momentum at the right time of year.
William Floyd will now look to carry that confidence into the final stretch of the regular season as the team continues its pursuit of a division title and a deep postseason run.
